Character Interview with Eryn (Under My Skin, Second Skin) + Giveaway

Hi everyone! If you’re into paranormal and you like kickass/badass heroines, this interview is for you! I’m interviewing Eryn (as she pointedly corrected me since I spelled it as E-r-i-n) from Under my Skin and Second Skin by Judith Graves. Stick around for a giveaway!

Is there a paranormal creature that you haven’t encountered yet?

Loads. Training with my father and his hunting crew prepared me for the usual suspects: rogue vamps, werewolves, wolven, man-eating spiders…voodoo dolls. But since I’ve moved to Redgrave, I’m discovering some new paranorm or paranorm hybrid on a daily basis. Never a dull moment around here.

If you could be a creature from mythologies and legends, who would you be? Why?

I kind of already am. My father was a human hunter and my mom, a wolven. I’m a paranorm hybrid with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf and yet retain certain wolven traits in my human form. Agility, speed, extra strength, and night vision. There’s more, but I’m kind of figuring it out as I go. My mother always wanted me to live a normal human life and kept me in the dark about my wolven side.

Then there’s the fact that my father’s a bit of a mad scientist and had me on experimental drugs to keep my wildness at bay. Turns out the drugs only enhanced my abilities.

My wolf can be impossible to control. I’m afraid one day I’ll just give in and give her what she wants. Flesh. Blood. Let me tell you, being a creature of lore ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I’d rather not speculate what other kind of beastly form I’d like to take on – I’ve got enough of that weirdness already, you know?

If Alec wasn’t human, do you think you would still like him (plan to emotionally invest in him)?

Whoa, hold on a second. Who said emotionally invested? You ask some heavy hitting questions there, Precious. I guess being a billion miles away from Redgrave makes you bold, huh? I’m not one of those plaster-my-social-life on Facebook kind of girls, but I will share this tidbit about Alec: he’s one of the good guys and I need more of those in my life.

Also, you can look, but don’t touch – unless you want your hand bitten off.

If you could choose between being half-wolven, half-human, being 100% wolven and 100% human, which would you choose? Why?

I used to think my mom was right, that my wolf needed to be suppressed, snuffed out. But now I’m not so sure. Humans can do great things. Change the world if they put their minds to it. But that’s the only advantage they have – their smarts. Wolven are all instinct, and pack structure, and survival of the fittest.

As a wolven/human hybrid, I’m smart (okay, also a smart-ass), strong, loyal, and fierce. If I play my cards right and keep my wolf under control, then I’m living the best of both worlds.

So I think I’ll stay as is.

If you could live in a normal, paranorm-free-world, who would you be? What would you do?

Now that’s a question they should put on our Career and Life Management final – especially since half of the student body at Redgrave High are paranorms. Um…I can’t imagine a paranorm-free-world. Even in “human” existence there’s mystery and magic, superstition and ritual. Can the normal exist without the paranormal? Can there be peace if there’s no war?

Lovely, now I’m getting all lofty. Next question.

(only answer this if you’re aware of YA Paranormal books) Could you choose one paranormal novel that you’d want to live in? Why?

I’m more than aware of paranorm novels, I’m a huge fan of the genre. And I luvs me my horror flicks. Nothing can top the Exorcist for scares – well, except maybe the night mare I just battled. So which title would I live in? Not Twilight – Bella’s too klutzy and my attraction for Wade (the vamp in MY life) aside, I think she chose the wrong guy. Which leaves me with only one real contender:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I know, I know – Buffy was a TV show from the 90s, when the Backstreet Boys were cool, but it spawned a series of fiction books, and the graphic novels are still going strong today - so it counts.

Why Buffy? She’s tough, she’s loyal, she saves the world time and time again. Plus – a bevy of steamy love interests.

Why the hell not?

Thanks, Eryn!

About Second Skin:

With FIENDS like Eryn…

Monsters. Bloodsuckers. The evil. The damned. Eryn McCain knows they exist— she’s been hunting them since she was a child. At sixteen, she’s ready to take on all comers. Being a shapeshifter gives her an advantage when it comes to her unusual part-time job. The hours suck and the pay is, well, non-existent, but bonuses like inhuman strength and night vision make tracking scary beasties a dream come true. Especially in a town like Redgrave.

When an ancient demon targets Redgrave High, Eryn and her crew of hunters must face their innermost fears to prevent the Harvest Moon Dance from becoming one serious Monster Mash. Loyalties are tested and temptations abound. With questions ever brewing, can Eryn share a future with the brooding, noble, human Alec—the hunter after her heart? Or will she succumb to her enemy’s son, Wade, a seductive predator as bloodthirsty as she is?

What happens when you’re both the beauty and the beast?

Now, on to the goodies. So I’m part of the Second Skin Blog Tour, right? And guess what?? There’s this giveaway… Just comment on this pos twith your email address and any other Second Skin Blog Tour post and you’ll have a chance to win these:
